EURDEP Data-Flow
The 30 countries currently participate in project. Most countries (more then
4200 stations in total) send Gamma-Dose rates. Some countries also send other
Sample types and meteorological data. Each point on the picture represents a
monitoring station.
Data is collected by the European Commission DG Joint Research Centre (DG
JRC) from the national ftp-servers or is sent by national organizations to
the JRC-Ispra by FTP or Email. The countries can send their data in the EURDEP
2.0 format by Email, FTP or make it available on a local ftp-server. This is the
preferred method: the participating organizations place their national data on a
local ftp-server to which the JRC-Ispra and the BfS/IAR have read-access.
At the JRC all incoming data-files are checked, converted (from EURDEP 1.3 to
EURDEP 2.0) if necessary and aggregated into the common EURDEP 2.0 dataset
before being uploaded in EURDEP database.
The participating organizations can subscribe to various Email queues to
automatically receive the aggregated dataset with newest European monitoring
data. Authorized users can access the EURDEP ftp-server and download all
European monitoring data.
The freely accessible Public map allows the public to view the European
monitoring data. Some countries however impose a delay (between 0-999 hours)
before the data becomes visible. The Private map (password protected)
with much extended functionalities allows Competent Authorities to view all data
in almost real-time (so without delays) and also to download selected data using
dedicated web-interface. The availability of European-wide monitoring data
allows the national Competent Authorities to react faster.
